Application Instructions
These instructions refer to the Application for Admission .

Ensure that you complete all sections of this form, unless instructed otherwise.

If you have any questions about these instructions or the application forms, please contact our admissions office (see contacts below).


I. PERSONAL DETAILS

Enter your name in the order requested. For example, if your name were Ashley Natalie Gibbs and you went by your middle name, you would enter your name as follows:

  • Surname: Gibbs
  • Given name(s): Ashley Natalie
  • Preferred name: Natalie

Enter dates in the following format: dd/mm/yyyy; for example, April 12, 1982, would be entered as 12/04/1982.

If you have a current passport, please enter the number and date of expiration. Note that your passport must be valid for at least six months from the time you enter Ecuador; otherwise, you may be denied entry into the country.

Provide the complete mailing address where you currently reside, or where you regularly receive mail. As well, list a phone number where you can be reached and a valid e-mail address that you check regularly (whenever possible, we will communicate with you via e-mail). Please also provide your permanent home address, if different from your mailing address.


II. PROPOSED STUDY

Indicate the term(s) you wish to study at CEDEI, and the year you wish to begin. Internship applicants: Tick Fall, Spring or Summer if you would like a placement during one of our regular academic terms; otherwise, check other and list the dates you wish to begin and end (7-16 weeks).

Make your course selection(s) from our Course Catalog.


III. ACCOMMODATION

Students are required to live with host families to maximize opportunities for practicing Spanish and learning about Ecuadorian culture and society. TEFL trainees, and students who previously have lived with a host family, also have the option of living in a hostel. A homestay offers three meals a day and laundry service; the hostel does not include meals.


IV. PARENT/GUARDIAN AND EMERGENCY CONTACT

Provide the name of the person whom we should contact in case of emergency. If you are under age 21, please also provide the name and address of your parent or guardian (if you listed that person as your emergency contact, you may leave the parent/guardian section blank).


V. ACADEMIC RECORD

If you are currently enrolled in college or university, or if you have already graduated, complete both Parts A and B. If you have never attended a post-secondary institution, tick the box marked I have not attended and skip to Part B.


VI. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Follow the instructions provided on the form itself. If you are enrolled in college or university, you may wish to consult with your Academic Advisor before you complete your statement. Internship applicants: Be sure to describe the type of placement you are seeking and/or the types of activities or projects that would interest you.


VII. MISCELLANEOUS

Describe your plans for financing your participation in this Program (eg, personal savings, support from parents or relatives, financial aid from home institution, etc). Financial aid is not available from CEDEI for Study Abroad and Exchange students. You will need to provide sufficient funds to cover your tuition, living expenses, health insurance, airfare and other fees.

Non-students: If you have not attended college or university, or if you graduated more than a few years ago, you may submit a résumé and a professional reference * in lieu of a transcript and an academic reference.

No application fee is required.

* Transcripts and references should be sent to us directly by the persons providing them. You may submit these documents yourself if they have been given to you in sealed envelopes.
