English Program

The English Program at CEDEI is divided into four distinct levels:
Beginning
Provides the necessary base in grammar, so that students who complete Beginning English may be able to carry on a conversation at an intermediate level. Students will learn necessary vocabulary, as well as composition and reading.
Intermediate
A continuation of grammar instruction with a reinforcement of the basic tenses and more intense work on conversation. At the completion of Intermediate English, students will be able converse and carry out research projects with oral presentations in class.
Advanced
The third year of study involves a grammar review through conversation, composition and reading. More complex materials are presented with the goal of increasing the students' vocabulary and preparing them for the final year of the program.
Oral and Written Expression
Students will learn about English literature with the goal of developing their creative powers in composition and conversation. Students will have debates and final presentations that include the use of the four fundamental areas of language: comprehension, conversation, reading and composition.
The program is designed for the successful completion of the four levels described above. Each level lasts one academic year (October through August) and is comprised of four ten-week terms. At the end of each term, each student will receive a certificate conferred by CEDEI with his/her final grade.
The objectives of this system of instruction are to achieve excellence in our students and to prepare them with the ability to speak, write and read the language. Our English professors are a select group of native speakers who facilitate the learning of our students.
