Fall Semester in the Andes

A unique study abroad program in Ecuador and Peru

4 September- 18 December 2007

The academic portion of the Fall Semester in the Andes program is designed to offer students enough credits to stay on-track with their major. The broad range of offerings includes TV News Production and Practicum, Cross-Cultural Communication, Latin American Literature, and Political Economy. In addition, we offer numerous Spanish and Quichua courses and an experiential core Travel Study course.

This semester program is ideal for anyone interested in TV News, Documentary Filmmaking and Communications majors, as it throws you into the field with your camera and weeks later you emerge with your own documentaries and news stories. This is part of the strategy employed in all of the classes offered during the semester; students are expected to use what they learn, thereby reinforcing everything that is done in the classroom.

The wide range of programs allows students of almost any major to apply the courses available in Cuenca to your required total for graduation. In other words, you won’t lose a semester by spending it in South America.

Study in Cuenca, Ecuador, one of the world's most beautiful cities and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Classes are small to give students a chance to interact with the teachers, and they often take place a long way from the classroom.
