Opportunity Funds is a financial support initiative aimed at students with high academic potential and low economic resources. In order to better inform interested students, there will be an information session on December 13 at 6:00 p.m. at the CEDEI Centro building (Gran Colombia 11-02 & General Torres).
The Opportunity Funds program was launched by the U.S. Department of State. In Ecuador, the Advising Centers of EducationUSA are charged with the administration of this program which offers the opportunity to apply to universities in the United States, at the undergraduate and graduate level.
To be selected as an Opportunity Funds scholar, the applicants must pass through a highly competitive selection process. They must demonstrate an advanced knowledge of the English language, motivation to study in the United States, and be a distinguished member of their community.
With this profile, Opportunity Funds scholars are able to access merit-based scholarships and/or offers of financial aid based on economic need on the part of the universities where they apply. Selected students receive academic advising throughout the entire application process, which lasts more than a year.
The EducationUSA Advising Centers give financial assistance via the Opportunity Funds program to combat the application process costs. This initiative aims to reduce application obstacles, principally economic ones, for deserving students in order to receive superior higher education. (The program does not cover tuition or living expenses).
Those interested in learning more about Opportunity Funds can visit the EducationUSA office located at Gran Colombia 11-02 & General Torres (CEDEI Foundation, 2nd floor). More details can be found on Facebook.
